About the Author

Webster's first interest in the Paleozoic crinoids was the discovery of a crown on a field trip in eastern Kansas led by Dr. R. C. Moore in 1956. However, his interest was really ignited working under the direction of Dr. N. Gary Lane at UCLA in 1963 and their joint discovery of the Permian crinoidal patch reef and Mississippian crinoids in southern Nevada resulting in 4 joint publications. This simply led to many other discoveries that continue to fire the interest today. The initial compilation of the Bibliography and Index was started in 1967 and only adds to the earlier bibliography compilation started by Frank Springer and his daughter Ada subsequently added to and published by Bassler and Moodey (1943).
